I wanted to keep my existing configuration and programs on my Cubieboard2 with Linaro Lubuntu, but at the same I wanted to upgrade the packages since the Lubuntu 12.10 is quite outdated.
This post describes my steps to upgrade my Cubieboard2 to the newer version, which can be done in 3 steps: I hope that with Ubuntu 14.04LTS version I will get smoother path to the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS release, which will have support next 5 years till 2021! 😎 To be able to update and even install packages I have updated my cat /etc/apt/#deb quantal main universe deb quantal main restricted universe multiverse deb quantal-updates main restricted universe multiverse deb quantal-security main restricted universe multiverse #deb-src quantal main universe deb-src quantal main universe where: – apt-get update updates the list of available packages and their versions, but it does not install or upgrade any packages.
if you face the same problem as I did back then with Ubuntu 12.10.
Checkout the manual installation if your current ubuntu can not install maven via common 'apt-get install maven'.
This brief tutorial is going to show you how to do an in-place upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 from 13.10.
In place upgrade is when you run the update-manager command from an existing Ubuntu installation to upgrade to the next.
